CBSE Class 7 Maths Ch- Data Handling

CBSE Class 7 Maths Ch- Data Handling

Data handling is the process of collecting, recording, and analyzing data to extract meaningful information.

Types of Data

1. Raw Data: Unorganized and unprocessed data.

2. Arrayed Data: Data arranged in a systematic order.

Methods of Data Collection

1. Observation: Collecting data by observing things around us.

2. Survey: Collecting data by asking questions.

3. Experiment: Collecting data by conducting experiments.

Representation of Data

1. Bar Graph: A graph using bars to represent data.

2. Pie Chart: A circular chart divided into sectors to represent data.

3. Pictograph: A graph using pictures to represent data.

4. Double Bar Graph: A graph using two sets of bars to compare two sets of data.

Double Bar Graph

A double bar graph is used to compare two sets of data. It has two axes:

1.X-axis: Represents the categories or groups.

2. Y-axis: Represents the values or quantities.

Features of a Double Bar Graph

1. Two sets of bars: Each set represents a different set of data.

2. Same x-axis: Both sets of bars share the same x-axis.

3. Same y-axis: Both sets of bars share the same y-axis.

4. Comparison: Allows for easy comparison between the two sets of data.

Interpretation of a Double Bar Graph

1. Compare values: Compare the values of the two sets of data for each category.

2. Identify trends: Identify trends and patterns in the data.

3. Make conclusions: Make conclusions based on the comparison of the two sets of data.

Key Concepts

1. Mean: Average of a set of numbers.

2. Median: Middle value of a set of numbers.

3. Mode: Most frequently occurring value in a set of numbers.

Formulae

1. Mean: (Sum of all observations) / (Total number of observations)

2. Median: Middle value of a set of numbers when arranged in order.

Practice Questions

1. Create a double bar graph to compare the scores of two teams in a cricket match.

2. Interpret the data represented in a given double bar graph.

3. Find the mean and median of the following set of numbers: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.

folloing worksheet and Test paper are helpful resourse for the students.
